“Time to have excited!” Why strangers could be his best for his last episodes of all time | Foreign things

Objectively, you should not look forward to the return of strangers. Over the years, the Netflix Smash represents everything that the streaming era of television is poor in in many ways.

It began as a funny piece of fluff, a one -story collection of open film references from the 1980s, which were the first part of an unsound anthology. But then it exceeded expectations so that the Duffer brothers had to pull a whole mythology out of the air. And a bloated, full of (at best) bottle episodes about punky young superheroes and (in the worst case) of a matter of course, the episodes that attract hours.

And because the episodes were so gigantic, they took years to take it. Therefore, you should not look forward to the return of Stranger things. Whatever happened in the last row of episodes has long since gone back from the memory and they were so long that they impossible to build enthusiasm to see them all again. It is less a series and rather a MAN -V -Food challenge that long after you have forgotten what your last meal tasted.

And yet the first trailer for the last row of Stranger Things episodes has dropped and damn it if I am not really excited.

What happens in the trailer? It's hard to say. Joe Keery turns a bike into a van. A bunch of lights flicker. There are flame thrower. Someone jumps between trees during a lightning storm that is followed by a demon. A bunch of four -legged monsters crossed in a kitchen like Raptors in the Jurassic Park. There are machine guns and fast cars and crying and flying and Vecna throw a kind of burning tornado in the sky, all of which are accompanied by the child of Deep Purple in good time.

Does it make sense? Not really. Is it so overloaded with mythology and unnecessary characters that they felt that they needed a diagram to remind them of who were all? Almost certainly. But could I feel how my heart starts in the course of the race? Yes. The trailer of strangers Things is not the best trailer that I have ever seen, but it could qualify as that the most Trailer that I have ever seen, and sometimes that does the trick.

More than everything else, it reinforces the direction in which strangers have moved in the past nine years. In these episodes there will be not a single atom of subtlety. Every shade is forced by a power package of the spectacle. Things will explode. There will be CGI in the gallon. Characters will only work in emotional red zones. For the good or bad, end this series exhausted.

However, there is a little hint that – despite the heavy metal hustle and bustle that whirls around it – knows Stranger Things how it is landing. It comes in the form of a dialogue between Hopper and Eleven. It is not much (“let's end it, child”), but it is a sign that the key relationship between the entire series is on the right track again.

Despite all the excess – the monsters, the nostalgia – strange things were always a show about parenthood. It is the story of a man who finds a strange little girl with anywhere who helps him rebuild after he has experienced the most devastating grief. Every time it differs in the family dynamics between Hopper and Eleven, Stranger Things has found an emotional gelding, which cannot be overwhelmed by the Whiz Bang fate of the show. Here the strange things began and I pray, here it will end.

This is the train of this trailer. The last season of Stranger Things will certainly be too long. There will be too many action lines. There will be children who ride bike, although they are visibly so old that they should really go to school in the past ten years. But if it remembers to concentrate on his heart – the dynamics between a man and a girl who saved each other – it could be worthwhile to look forward to strange things.
