Wyndham Clark Fine to follow Oakmont's requirements for the return

Wyndham Clark hopes to play again in the Oakmont Country Club, but says that the decision is located in the historic golf club outside of Pittsburgh, after banning him from his property because he had damaged his locker at this year's US Open.

“That is up to them,” Clark told reporters on Sunday, after carding a 6-year 65-year-old in the last round, at 11 under and in a tie for fourth place at the open. “I really don't know. I would hope. It's a fantastic course and place, but that's up to you.

“I did something terrible and I'm really sorry. Hopefully you have it in your heart to forgive me, and maybe I can play there in the future.”

In a letter to the Oakmont Country Club members who were sent to members at the beginning of this week, club president John Lynch said that the club had banned Clark after several discussions with the United States Golf Association and the Club Board.

Oakmont is said to organize the US Open again in 2033, which would be the last year of Clark's 10-year exception for winning the 2023 US Open in the Los Angeles Country Club.

The 31 -year -old Clark could be allowed to return to Oakmont if he pays damages, a “meaningful contribution” provides a charity selected by the board of the board and is consulted according to the letter and/or anger management therapy.

“We have the search and do that,” said Clark. “Obviously it is a child's play to pay for the damage. That was a matter of course. Then, obviously all excuses, and I would like to give the community a little because I hurt a great place in Pittsburgh, so I wanted to do everything I could to show you that what happened does not reflect who I am and will not happen again.

“But I want to show you who I am really with the apology and things I will do.”

Clark seemed to be surprised that his punishment in a letter to Oakmont members was detailed.

“We had hoped that it would be private,” said Clark. “I'll just leave it with it.”

It was not the only time that Clark was announced up to date for poor behaviors this season. At the PGA championship in May he threw his driver and damaged a sign near the tea box with one of his most famous sponsors.

In the past, Clark has been open about his physical fighting fighting struggles and memperatives.

“I was quite open about my mental shift and change to get better, in '23 and '24 and then a hard year and all the expectations and only frustration that come together, and I did two stupid things,” he said. “But one thing that did it is to wake me up and bring me back to the person I am and the person I want to be.

“I hope these things do not reflect because I don't think they think about who I am and that this stuff will not happen again.”

Clark, which has been reached in the official Weltgolf ranking on 28th place, has recorded his best finish in a major since winning the 2023 US Open. It was his second top 10 finish in 20 starts on the tour this season.
