Tour de France: Alaphilippe celebrates in 15th level 15 … but discovered Wellens long before him | Tour de France 2025

The French stage in the Tour de France are increasingly rare. So if you happen, there are wild celebrations. Julian Alaphilippe, the former world -Road -racing champion, lifted the triumph in Carzassonne in triumph and thought that he had won, only by seconds later that he had actually occupied third place behind two Belgian.

In front of the resident Alaphilippe, Tadej Pogacar's teammate from Emirates-XRG Tim Wellens won a solo victory on the 15th tour, far ahead of the country comrade Victor Campanaerts, a team-mate of Jonas Vingegaard.

“Julian's radio did not work,” said Alaphilippe's Tudor Pro -Team manager Raphael Meyer to explain the ecstatic but misguided fist pump of his driver. A victory of the French driver would have been all the more remarkable, since he used to crash on the stage and had jumped back a distorted shoulder, everyone alone.

For Vingegaard it was another stressful day when his Visma lease showed a bike team questionable strategy. You have a day well, the next bad, while Pogacar and his team remain a model of consistency.

If the Vingegaard team increasingly resembles a burning house, Pogacar remains an impregnable fortress. In the shadow of Carcassonnes Citadelle, the 34-year-old wave, a stage winner in Giro d'Italia and in Vuelta a España, he won.

The dane had been involved in the same early crash, in which Alaphilippe had come down. Inexplicit, when Vingegaard, who became second, became second after the peloton chased, were some of his teammates, including Campanese, at the top, forced the pace and distanced her team leader.

After his own crash in the 11th stage, the Slovenians were returned in Toulouse in Toulouse, to reply. Finally Vingegaard and Florian Lipowitz pulled the main group again.

Even the defending champion seemed to be confused by what was going on around him. “There were three Visma people who were all trying to go back into the break and they had Jonas chasing in the back,” said Pogacar. “It was just a strange situation.”

While Pogacar was finally able to repay the sportingness shown four days ago, Wellens was not in the mood to hang around, and made his decisive solo with 43 km to race on the Col de Fontbruno.

The Belgian champion never looked back and crowded into the last kilometers on the gentle streets of the Languedoc to win by Campanaerts for almost one and a half minutes.

At the beginning of the tour, Vingegaard's wife and personal manager had a bicycle team criticized on the way to Carcassonne, their fears seemed to be justified, since both campaerts and Wout van Aert apparently rest for the stage victory.

“I hope he gets the team's full support instead of all possible goals,” said Trine Vingegaard Hansen this month. “Even if you strive for stage gains with other drivers, these resources cannot be used for Jonas.

Pogacar, although he said to the stage, that he had a slight summer cheeky because of the fluctuating temperatures and too much time in air conditioning, never looked into difficulties.

When Vingegaard thought about his teammate's motivations, Pogacar Wellens became chief. “How does it look?” He also strived through his team car. “What does Tim look like? You should answer: 'He looks fabulous!'”

Monday is a day of rest, while the 16th stage on Tuesday leads the Peloton from Montpelier to the discouraging Mont Ventoux, where Pogacar will almost certainly try to increase his lead with a prestigious stage victory.
