Nick Frost debut Hagrid on the first look photo

Meet the new Rubus Hagrid.

Fresh from the announcement of HBO that the upcoming series “Harry Potter” officially started production-and the debut of newcomer Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter-Hat, the network, reveals the first image of Nick Frost as a lovable half-giant. The “Shaun of the Dead” and the “Hot Fuzz” factor follow in the footsteps of Robbie Coltrane, which played in all eight eight “Harry Potter” films Hogwarts' wild keeper and grounds goalkeeper.

Filming in the first season of the series began on Monday in the Warner Bros. Studios in Great Britain and is expected to be until spring 2026. In addition to McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermine Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The young trio was selected by more than 30,000 actors who were discussed in a casting call last autumn.

The cast, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer As Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu As Severus Snape, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Braun, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge. Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley and Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley. Additional names that became known on Monday were Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.

In 2027, the series will be debuted on HBO and HBO Max, as far as available, and will be led by Showrunner and author Francesca Gardiner (“Dark Materials”, “Killing Eve”) and director Mark Mylod (“Successor”). In addition to the series author JK Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Lets, Gardiner and Mylod produce Brontë Film and TV and David Heyman from flowering films. The “Harry Potter” series is produced by HBO in collaboration with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television.
